Lease and finance evaluation comprises a complete business application in Microsoft Excel 5.0. It is structured as a book and disk combination to allow you to read the theory and then to use a fully-functioning model containing the formulae and methodology.

Financial calculator for single and multiple cash flow analysis


Rental calculator for entering and analysing quotations


Lessor lease evaluation and settlements schedules


Client or lessee lease evaluation and accounting


Annual accounts analysis with financial ratios

The documentation for Lease and finance evaluation shows all the schedules with examples. It details how to use the software using examples where possible to demonstrate the underlying theory


Install the application from the disk as shown in the next section. You have to install it since the files are

stored on the accompanying disk in a compressed form.


When you first start the application, start with the Inputs schedule and review the entries:


(1) Input your company name and details and review the borrowing rate etc.

(2) Review the examples on each of the schedule and take a copy of the application as a security back-up.


Use the options in Lease and finance evaluation for the following:


(1)   Financial calculator - single and multiple cash flows

(2) Rental calculator - set up a 'proposal' for analysis

(3)   Settlements - table of equipment values and exposures against the market value

(4)   Evaluation - lessor lease evaluation by the net after tax actuarial method

(5)   Investment period (IPM) method - allocation of pre tax profits based on the cash flows

(6)   Sum of digits (SoD) method - allocation of profit using the sum of digits (Rule of 78) method

(7)   Rate sheet - tables of rates per 1,000 using the interest rate on Inputs

(8)   Quotation - quote with a list of features and benefits

(9)   Rental vs purchase - client NPV's of each option at the net of tax factored borrowing rate

(10) Accounting entries - SSAP21 client accounting with depreciation at a constant rate

(11) Annual accounts analysis - analyse up to 3 years accounts with financial ratios
